Pepitone’s baseball career took off when he was signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1958. He made his Major League debut in 1962 and spent ten seasons with the Yankees. He also helped the Yankees win two American League pennants and two World Series championships.

Following his stint with the Yankees, Pepitone played for other teams, including the Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, and Atlanta Braves. However, his production declined, and he eventually retired from baseball in 1973 with a career batting average of .258, 219 home runs, and 707 RBIs.

Throughout his career, Pepitone’s exceptional fielding earned him three Gold Glove Awards. He was also a key player in the Yankees’ championship teams of 1962 and 1963 and was inducted into the Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
