Lance Reddick, born on June 7, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents Dorothy Gee and Solomon Reddick, attended the Friends School of Baltimore where he discovered his love for music. As a teenager, Reddick studied music at the Peabody Preparatory Institute and also attended a summer program on music theory and composition at the Walden School.

Reddick pursued a Bachelor of Music degree in classical music composition at the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music, after which he moved to Boston, Massachusetts, in the 1980s. He later received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Drama in 1994.
Reddick’s acting career began with his role as Detective Johnny Basil in the HBO series Oz, which aired from 1997 to 2003. He then went on to play various roles in popular TV series such as The Wire, Lost, Fringe, and Bosch. Reddick also appeared in films, including the John Wick franchise, Angel Has Fallen, and Godzilla vs. Kong.
Reddick was an accomplished musician who released his debut album, Contemplations & Remembrances, in 2007. On March 17, 2023, it was reported that Reddick had passed away at the age of 60 at his home in Los Angeles, leaving behind a great loss for the entertainment industry and his fans around the world.
