With her arrest for assaulting a youngster, Jacqueline Ma’s arrest has become a hot subject online.
Jacqueline Ma, a recent California elementary school “Teacher of the Year” winner, has been accused of sexually abusing a former 13-year-old student.
Ma, a teacher in the sixth grade at Lincoln Acres Elementary School in National City, was taken into custody on school grounds earlier this week and accused with several offenses, including engaging in sexual or lecherous behavior with a juvenile.

A day after being approached by a “concerned parent who suspected that her 13-year-old child was maybe having an inappropriate relationship with a former instructor,” the National City Police Department revealed in a press release that Ma was detained on Tuesday morning.
Detectives and school resource officers “immediately” began investigating the report, according to the department. According to the press statement, Ma’s arrest was “established with probable cause,” according to the police.
It wasn’t immediately obvious if Ma had hired a lawyer.

Ma was detained once more on Thursday, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reports, on fresh felony allegations that include possessing child pornography and intimidating a witness or victim. Ma was first freed after posting bail the day after her detention.

The honoree schoolteacher is currently being held at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Center, according to the records.

Ma’s coworkers also praised her, saying that she assisted Lincoln Acres Elementary in adjusting to using technology for remote teaching during the epidemic.
